Frostbite is a colorless-scaling mutation which causes the slow debuff to slowly damage enemies over time. Frozen targets count as having max stacks for this effect

  • When used with Modifiers that spread slow to nearby enemies, Frostbite can effective kill trash mobs and, with a bit more effort, even low health enemies without having to engage them.
  • It adds extra damage-over-time to weapons and items that inflict slow, although the damage is minimal and becomes almost negligible in higher difficulties.

Frostbite is an injury caused by freezing of the skin and underlying tissues. The early stage of frostbite is called frostnip. It causes a cold feeling followed by numbness. As frostbite gets worse, the affected skin may change color and become hard or waxy-looking.

Will frostbite heal on its own? ›

If you have very mild frostnip, you may heal within a few days to a few weeks. Second-stage frostbite can take up to six months for your skin to heal. You may experience skin scabbing and skin discoloration throughout the healing process. The third and most severe stage of frostbite can cause permanent skin damage.

The affected area should be rewarmed slowly by immersing it in warm, but not hot, water. A bath of water at a temperature of 37C to 39C (98.6F to 102.2F) is recommended. Rewarming should last at least 30 minutes and only be stopped once the affected body part is a red-purple colour and can be easily moved.
